What immediately springs to mind when you read that word? Whatever reaction you may have, evangelism is becoming increasingly dangerous in an apparently post-secular Western world, yet the church has a continuing mandate to be a witness and to share the great message of the gospel.

This book looks at the gospel adventures of Philip the Evangelist and draws lessons that will encourage, enliven and challenge you. It will ultimately also inspire you to lift up the sword of the Spirit boldly and, for the sake of lost souls, enter into the evangelistic fray.

William Wade’s book is refreshingly direct and thoroughly biblical. It challenges much of the pseudo-evangelism of our day and calls for a return to evangelism that preaches Christ and him crucified. Simply explained yet grounded in thorough research of both the biblical material and our postmodern post-truth culture. Like Philip the evangelist, Wade’s approach is bold, Christ-centred and Holy Spirit empowered. He debunks much of what goes for evangelism in our day, energising us to want to leap out of our comfort zones and preach the gospel in all its purity; with the deep-seated confidence that when a man is called, anointed, and sent of God then the power of God will be seen in the salvation of precious souls.
