Description

God's Word, the Bible, is the guidebook to life for all people. It is the 'measuring rod' or standard by which we live out our lives before God, the Creator of all things. In it, God reveals himself to us and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. God's Word is vital in revealing the truth to each of us; only the Bible teaches us how sinful people can ever be reconciled to a holy God.

In these warm, Christ-centred poems, Anne Standfield demonstrates her joy in the truths of God's Word, sharing her experiences of God and the knowledge of his Word with others with a view that they, with her, 'may know him better' (Ephesians 1:17). All the poems have been based solely upon Scripture with the aim that each reader may come to know the only true God and Jesus Christ, his Son, whom he has sent as our Saviour. This is the only way to eternal life (John 17:3)

About the Author:

Anne Standfield was born in Cornwall, England, where she continues to live and work today. Converted at the age of seventeen through the witness of a friend, she has continued to learn the ways of God and to grow as a Christian. She has written poetry since she was eight but now dedicates this particular gift to the Lord, seeking to strengthen, encourage and challenge others. With a long standing keen interest in youth work, she has always worked among various Christian groups, ranging from toddler groups to early teenagers and has also been involved in Youth Camps within the south west in past years. Today she works as part of a team teaching the wonders of God’s Word to children aged eight to twelve years. Over recent years she has embarked upon a vocational theology course from which she has gained an unprecedented love for the Bible and a deep desire to make her Saviour known to all around her. Through her gift of poetry she seeks to share her experiences of God and the knowledge of his Word with others with a view that they, with her, ‘may know Him better’ (Ephesians 1:17).

"needs time"

If you like poetry to rhyme and scan, this is a book you will enjoy and turn to again and again. In the same way as many hymns can be used as meditations, many of these meditations could be usefully set to music. The author has set the poems into groups, and each has their Bible reference that you are encouraged to read as part of your meditation. Each poem and reading needs to have time spent on them to make full use of this volume. Time for reflection and drawing nearer to God. GoodBookStall Review - Mary Bartholomew - 13/07/08
