Description

God overrules for good the activities of those who teach false doctrine. In the days of the apostles, for example, we see these activities being overruled to the production of some of our foundational New Testament documents. Galatians is the prime example. The heresy it combats is, in its essence, widespread, and because of that, the letter is no less necessary now than it was 2,000 years ago. It gives us a very clear answer to that most vital of questions: How, as sinners, can we come to be right with the God against whom we have sinned? Nor does it leave it off before it has answered the related and no less important question: How, having become right with God, are we to progress in our Christian lives?

"excellent"

Galatians is a passionate, combative part of Scripture, strikingly contemporary because it deals with a heresy which, in one form or another, is always with us. Salvation by ritual or character is a modern form of the 1st century denial of the gospel which Paul confronts and demolishes. David Campbell opens up this letter in a most attractive and helpful way. His exposition is clear and the applications both challenging and encouraging. He deals with 'new perspectives' on Paul not by analysing their errors but by stating and defending the truth which they call into question. This is pastoral wisdom. A timely and useful book.
—Edward Donnelly, Minister, Trinity Reformed Presbyterian Church, Newtownabbey

Opening up Galatians by Pastor David Campbell is a delight to read. His engaging style is simple to follow and easy to understand. It is an excellent introductory commentary for God's people and a good model of simple explanation for the pastor. While clarifying the theology and message of the epistle, Pastor Campbell vividly introduces us to the actual people involved. The Judaizers, the Galatians themselves, and the Apostle Paul come alive as living, breathing people. The interplay of their different thoughts and positions are not dealt with only in an abstract manner but with the real-life implications on how a person lives before God.
—Dr. Fred Malone, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Clinton, Louisiana
