The book has been written because of the need for Christians, from whatever culture background, to develop a biblical understanding of marriage. In three major sections, Paul Brown examines first what the Bible says about marriage, considering a number of important passages from both the old testament and the new testament. He then addresses a number of practical questions relating to marriage in the light of this Biblical background. The final section considers marriage itself more closely, its blessings and its difficulties, its opportunities and its dangers, its challenges and what Christian responses should be. 

Written in a clear and straightforward style, this book gives a basic introduction to the subject and encourages readers to study the Bible carefully for themselves. It provides a helpful summary for all believers and seeks to encourage Pastors and Christian leaders to gain a thorough understanding of all the aspects of this subject and to develop a thoughtful, caring, sympathetic approach as they minster to God's people.

Paul Brown is a retired pastor now living in the north-west of England. He is married with three children and seven grandchildren. He has written several books including 'Ernest Kevan, Leader in Twentieth Century Evangelicalism' (Banner of Truth Trust), and Deuteronomy, An expositional commentary (DayOne).
