Description
Luke is a young man with an exceptional footballing talent. He is also a devoted Christian and the son of a Methodist minister where observance of the Lord’s Day has been a part of his growing
up, under the influence of his father.
He is football mad and his aim is to one day play for England.
The book unfolds with the trials and difficulties that Luke experiences as a Christian and the resolve he has to maintain his Christian values.
As his football career progresses, his trials and tribulations follow him and threaten to wreck either his career or his resolve to keep Sunday for God.
I loved writing the book and hope readers will enjoy it too, as well as embracing the Christian principles within.
Trevor Savident is a retired police officer, having served twenty-six years in Guernsey police service and, after retirement, he ran a community centre for the Salvation Army for thirteen years. He attends a Congregational church and has been a member for some sixty years.
He was a keen footballer in his teenage years but not as good as he would like to have been, so instead took up refereeing for over twenty years, travelling much in that phase of his life.
He has three daughters but sadly his eldest daughter recently passed to glory, stricken down by cancer. Praise God she was a believer. He is blessed by having a lovely and loving supportive wife who allows him to disappear a couple of times a week to play bowls for the local police team. Despite his age, he remains fairly active and gives thanks to the Lord for his mercies.
